FAQ

Q: What are your credentials?

A: I’ve worked as a freelance editor for five years, which has given me the opportunity to help authors across various genres and levels of experience. My background in the craft of quality fiction and nonfiction was cultivated at Beloit College, where I graduated with a BA in Creative Writing. Additionally, I have been privileged to have seen my fiction and poetry published in a wide variety of presses.

Q: What types of material do you edit?

A: I am available to edit short stories, plays, screenplays, fiction, and nonfiction (memoirs/creative nonfiction). I work with all genres, but my specialties and the bulk of my experience are in working with authors of literary, mainstream, transgressive, pulp, mystery, crime, sci-fi, and fantasy fiction.

Q: Once I start working with you, how long a waiting period should I expect before you complete the job?

A: That depends on which package best meets your needs. For a standard 70,000 word manuscript, the Bronze Package should be ready within five days of purchase, the Silver Package should take about two weeks, and the Gold Package about one month.

Q: Do you offer expedited service?

A: Unfortunately, I do not. I find that quality suffers in any pursuit when rushed, perhaps nowhere more notably than in editing.

Q: I’d like to consult with you before I purchase. Can we do that?

A: Of course! I offer complementary phone, Skype, or Google Hangout calls.

Q: I’m concerned about handing over my manuscript to someone. What if they steal my work?

A: To protect both my clients’ and my own rights, I do not accept payment until a contract has been electronically signed. All contracts have explicit statements detailing that I have no legal right to ownership of your work.

Q: How are payments handled? Do I have to pay everything upfront?

A: Once our contract has been signed, to initiate my work, I require a check, PayPal, or Venmo deposit of one half of the total cost of the service. Upon completion, I require the other half of the total cost of the service.
